Description

Africa, Nigeria, Igbo Peoples, ca. 1st quarter of the 20th century CE. Wonderfully expressive carved wooden Owu cult figure. Standing on green, red and black painted tiered base legs slightly bent arms at sides with hands closed once grasping objects, now gone. Her face has been painted white , coiled hair black and body red and black. Size: 17" H (43.2 cm)
