Description
Pre-Columbian, Peru, Nazca culture, ca. 100 to 400 CE. This is a sweet doll with vivid polychrome decoration: cream slip contrasting with brown and red. She is depicted as having almond-shaped eyes and hair that falls to her shoulders. She has red marks below her eyes that may indicate scarification or tattooing; she also has a grid design on both legs that may represent tattoos. She is seated on an exaggerated buttocks, which also has a design that may be tattoos. Female figures are relatively rare in Nazca pottery, making this piece particularly unique. Comes with custom stand. Size: 2.9" L x 2.4" W x 3.9" H (7.4 cm x 6.1 cm x 9.9 cm).
