Description
PRESSED LACY POINTED OVAL TOY TUMBLER, teal with gilt decoration, plain circular base with a faint pontil mark. Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. 1830-1850. 1 3/4" H, 1 5/8" D rim.
Excellent condition overall with a chip in the base resulting in a bruise, typical roughness to the base, each possibly as made.
Literature: Parallels Barlow/Kaiser - The Glass Industry in Sandwich, vol. 3, p. 215, fig. 3320. Like Elsholz, lots 1223 and 1766.
Provenance: Collection of the late Shirley Reed, Maplewood, NJ.
