1993 Cadillac Allante Convertible
1993 Cadillac Allante Convertible
Item Details
Description
The Collection of Mr. Robert F. Snodgrass, Jr.

Specifications:
295hp, 4.6-liter Northstar V8 engine, four-speed automatic transmission, fully independent suspension, four-wheel vented disc brakes. Wheelbase: 99.4"

In 1992, on the occasion of its 90th anniversary and the last year of production of the popular Allante, Cadillac unveiled its new Northstar V8 engine. Later that year the final 4,670 Allantes were produced, each featuring Cadillac's new flagship powerplant and the latest in technology and comfort. Since 1987 the beautiful Pininfarina-designed cars were America's answer to the sporty roadsters of Europe, offering excellent performance and good looks to match. After traveling via 747 from Torino to Detroit, every Allante body was outfitted with a Northstar engine and the Cadillac coat of arms. In addition to the Quiet Coil Direct Ignition System and Fluid Induction System, the car's handling abilities were greatly improved with road-sensing suspension, speed sensitive steering, and a Bosch traction control system. Priced at nearly $60,000 the Allante was intended to showcase Cadillac's capacity for competitiveness not only within the American luxury car segment but also on the country roads of Europe.

The car shown here, with less than 49,000 original miles, is a particularly excellent example that has been in the climate controlled care of the Brumos Collection ever since its purchase by Mr. Snodgrass. The original red paint, complemented by a black canvas top, is in outstanding condition, virtually free of imperfections, as is brightwork, which is equally well maintained and flawless. The same level of maintenance extends to the interior, where the leather and carpeting show relatively minor evidence of aging and use. As would be expected, every imaginable feature is present, from the "Symphony Sound" AM/FM/cassette/CD stereo and power accessories to the electronic climate control and a complete digital gauge display. With respect to the engine bay, every element, including the 32-valve Northstar engine, remains clean, well maintained, and very presentable.

A Cadillac of this caliber and relatively low mileage is a rare find indeed. Equally hard to come by is an American convertible that seamlessly combines the finest in American luxury and tradition with the ultimate in Italian design. As such, the Snodgrass Collection's 1993 Allante is the ideal driver, piquing onlooker curiosity while garnering the aficionado's respect.
