Description
Luristan, modern day Iran, ca. 1000 to 700 BCE. A delicate and beautiful lost wax cast bronze cloak pin. The shape of the pin is of a flattened ram's horns that are tightly spiraled. The animal that this is modeled on is probably a mouflon, the wild sheep whose male rams have large curved horns and who have inhabited the mountainous regions of Iran that include Luristan for thousands of years. A pin like this would have been an integral part of Luristan attire. Size: 2.1" W x 4.3" H (5.3 cm x 10.9 cm)
