Description
The larger is known as a "Milliner's Model" type of doll with mâché shoulder-head on narrow waist firm leather body and wooden lower arms and legs with painted flat shoes. She has a lovely late-1840's hairstyle with center part and so-called "Spaniel-type" curls covering the ears to the top of the neck and pulled back in back to a tight bun. She wears a pale green silk blouse with quilted center panel and a well-coordinated brocade ankle length skirt. The smaller doll is a blonde shoulder-head, 1860's style, with molded and painted features on a cloth body with wooden lower arms (replaced). She wears a blue dotted printed cotton dress with silk ribbon sash and has no shoes. Although extremely well-done professionally, the large doll appears to have been repainted with the smaller doll having some touch-up on the face, but not extensively. (Good). Largest: 22'' T.
