An original Russian photograph by Abram Ilyich Yasvoin (Ð?бÑ€ам ИлÑŒич Ясвоин), Purveyor and Photographer to the Court of Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolaevich the Elder and Grand Duchess Alexandra Petrovna, depicting a formation of officers in uniform, standing before a crenellated tower in summertime; the lower right corner embossed with Cyrillic signature 'A. Yasvoin,' one of the firm's trademarks. Dimensions (viewable area): 7 1/2 x 9 1/2 in. (19 x 24 cm); as framed: 14 1/4 x 17 1/4 in. (36.2 x 43.9 cm). After Abram Ilyich's death, several of his children continued the family business, apparently under his name. The photographer A. Yasvoin is one of the fashionable photographers selected to take images for the famous 1903 Costume Ball at the Winter Palace. Copies of his original albums are held in the Russian State Archives.
