New England Glass Co Red Fixed Globe Lantern

Item Details

Description

A standard design lantern frame from the New England Glass Company. It has the crescent/hash vent holes and a nipple top with a cookie cutter water deflector rather than the later flat plate. It has a roiund wire bail. The base is typical with 5 point rounded star intake holes. The base is a modified Engine style that is not a cup and it's not a bell. See an article I wrote about this in a 1990's RCAI Express magazine. The base is sprung and comes off easily. It has a glass fount, brass burner collar adn no burner. Now for the globe. It is a solid cranberry color and not a deep signal red found in rthe 20th century. It is a beautiful color. with no damage. The globe has some scratches but no damage.
