A RARE CHINESE HUANGHUALI WAISTED DAYBED, TA
Prob. 17th/18th Century
The well-proportioned bed has a narrow waist, which supports a sturdy rectangular frame enclosing the hard mat seat. The bed is raised on sturdy, slightly inward curving legs of square section, connected by plain aprons. Characterized with lattice motifs back splat and arm panels gallery. The use of the daybed was manifold - during the day, it served as a sitting platform; at night a bed. Due to its simple design and light weight, the daybed was a versatile piece of furniture, easily suited for both indoor and outdoor purposes. The HuangHuaLi wood displays a dense hardwood, with deep-brown patterns over golden-honey shades tone and translucent shimmering surface with abstractly figured motifs appearing like ghost faces motif.

Over all in EXCELLENT condition. Some stress of wear. Natural wood imperfection, wood joint mark, minor scratches and dents. Normal consider ages and wears.
