Description
Antique West Indies Plantation or Planter's Chair with Caned Seat and Swiveling Extendable Carved Arms. This style of chair was designed and used in the 19th Century when planters wore high hip boots that tookhours to put on and take off. These chairs with swing out foot rests enabled the workers to take their daily siesta, while keeping their boots on. Extendable Arms have Lions lightly carved into their surface. Caning in good condition. Measures 40 x 29 x 40 inches.
