Description
Leutze, Emanuel (German/American, 1816 - 1868); Mid 19th century Oil on Canvas painting, depicting a woman wearing a flowing white dress, in personification of Liberty leading the charge of an 18th century battle of the French Revolution. Possibly in depiction of the Women's March on the Palace of Versailles, which took place the morning of October 5th, 1789, she stands ready to fire the cannon. Signed and dated 1859 on left hand side. Art size measures approx. 47-1/2" H x 36-3/4" W + 3-1/4" wooden frame. Will not ship, we can refer local shippers.
