French Empire Style Ormolu Mounted Carved Walnut Marble Top Commode, 19th c., the highly figured black marble over a frieze drawer above three deep drawers flanked by ormolu mounted engaged columns, on cylindrical legs, H.- 36 5/8 in., W.- 44 1/2 in., D.- 22 1/2 in.

Condition consistent with age and use. An apparent repair to the back right corner of the marble, measuring approximately 10 by 4 inches. Greyish and black residue visible in a 2 inch area and along the crack. A 3 inch spot of wear near the left edge of the top. Flea-size chips along the edge of the marble. Pea-size chips in the front right corner. Holes from wood beetle exposure intermittently throughout. Three keys present. Crack in bottom of each drawer. About a dozen 1 to 2 inch triangular repairs to the veneer on the front of the drawers. Two ½ inch chips in the veneer on the front. Two 2 inch apparent repairs with woodfill in the bottom right edge of the middle drawer. Faint horizontal gouge across the left side. Approximate 2 by 4 inch loss to back left foot. Two vertical cracks along the left side. A 10 inch vertical crack on the bottom right side. Two 5 inch cracks on the top right side. A 3 inch crack in the trim on the lower right side. Several hairline cracks in the veneer on the columns. A lovely example. ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD "AS IS."
