Description
Attributed to Benjamin Richard Green (British, 1808-1876), "Untitled (Wetlands Landscape)"-circa 1906, oil on canvas, signed and dated to lower left "B. Green. 1906". Figural landscape painting depicting a cattle herder following his drove past a still lake with small wooden boat, with indistinct stamp to canvas verso "Cowell's Art Storage 66, St. James Street". Framed approximately 20" x 26.25". Unframed approximately 12" x 18".
Condition
Work has not been re-lined. Overall with even, if heavy toning. Paint surface is stable, with small area of craquelure to lower left quadrant. Three patches to verso with corresponding in-painting to recto. In-painting detectable under black light; largely contained to sky and lower margin. No untreated losses or tear noted.
