Description
Likely Derby Porcelain (England, founded 1756), circa early 19th century. An interesting biscuit porcelain twin-handled urn form vase, in the Neoclassical style, having entwining snake-form handles over the body decorated with applied ribbon-tied floral garlands raised on a socle on square foot. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 14.25", width 6". Provenance: From the Private Collection of the Owner of Chelsea House.
Condition
Removed from base, with remnants of museum putty. Scattered losses to flowers overall. Separation/small hairlines at fusion points on snake where tail and head meet on both sides. Crack to base. Glaze pop to stand.
