Description
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A cast lead figure of an idealized muscular young man wearing nothing but a thrown back cape; he leans against a set of Roman armor. Perhaps this figure represents Hercules - a common subject of Roman statuary - and it may be a copy of a larger bronze statue. The lead has held up well - many lead objects found on Roman archaeological sites are nearly unrecognizable. Size: 2" W x 3.5" H (5.1 cm x 8.9 cm)
