Italian Rococo Revival Carved and Gold-Painted Sofa, early 20th century, the frame profusely carved with flowers and ribbons, raised on short cabriole legs ending in scrolled toes, h. 40", w. 80", d. 38".

Structurally sound with losses to carved and pierced bowknots on both sides of crest. There are a few minor shrinkage cracks, and there is a section of the lower right skirt which needs re-gluing. The old matte gilt surface is intact with minor scattered wear. The left front foot has been heavily abraded and re-gilded. The upholstery has staining scattered throughout, and an area of it is detached from the studding along the crest rail with some tattering and fraying to its edge.
