Description
Japanese 11" tall hand painted Fukagawa studio vase, Meiji/Taisho Period, meticulously painted. Matte Porcelain with hand painted Mountain Home and Lake. Signed by the artist to one side and with the Fukagawa Seiji hallmark on the bottom. "Fuka gawa sei" - Made by Fukagawa. This mark Fukagawa-sei was used ca. 1900 - 1920. The Fukagawa Seiji company was founded by Fukagawa Chuji (1871-1934) who was the second oldest son of Fukagawa Eizaemon. The company exported porcelain ware to Europe and America that was highly prized among collectors. 7x7x11". Weight is 4 pds. PROVENANCE: A Charleston SC Private Estate.
