Approximately 168 (of 489) copper engraved plates. (Oblong folio) 28x35.5 cm (11x14") old full brown calf, paneled in gilt with decorative gilt central device, rebacked with remnant of original spine leather laid down, endpapers renewed.
This album includes the following full sequences: Marten de Vos: David and Abigail (Hollstein 114-117); David and Absalom (Hollstein 118-121); The Story of Jeremiah (Hollstein 138-141), The Story of Tobias (Hollstein 166-171); The History of Judith (Hollstein 172-174); The appearance of the risen Christ (Hollstein 504-507). Further, there are incomplete selections including sheets from the birth and passion of Christ, from the story of Jonas and Queen Atalja. From the history of the Maccabees (Hollstein 62-69), and much more. Very fine engravings of biblical scenes. Generally excellent impressions, with generous margins.
