Description
Pre-Columbian, northern Mexico, Zacatecas (Chalchihuites/Alta Vista/Chichimeca), ca. 200 BCE to 200 CE. Hailing from a very unique ceramic culture, a blackware conical scepter with a naturalistic applied rattlesnake around the upper body; incised lines in a zig-zag pattern behind the snake and around the lower body suggest either the movement of a snake or the jagged mountains that form the landscape of northern Mexico. Comes with custom stand. Size: 2.7" W x 9.2" H (6.9 cm x 23.4 cm); size on stand: 3" W x 9.5" H (7.6 cm x 24.1 cm).
