Ancient Egyptian Limestone Relief Late period, ca. 700-30 B.C.Size of the relief: 5 1/8 x 4 5/8 inches. custom mounted on wood block overall size 6 3/4 inches high.A section of a limestone stele having raised relief detailing of a figure in the center, rounded head wraps and red pigment, indicating that these were workers or boatmen. the fragment showing partial of two other figures. Very fine example. Provenance: Property of a New York City Art Historian Estate, acquired from Mathias Komor works of Art New York. Sticker number H 703. Mr. Komor was an expert in Antiquities and ran a gallery at Madison Avenue and 71st Street from 1941 until 1984. He was also a consultant to many United States museums.
