BUFFALO POTTERY BLUE WILLOW CERAMIC GRADUATED PITCHERS, LOT OF THREE, all having an ovoid form with molded spout, dark cobalt blue handles, and gilding; all with a blue chinoiserie transfer design in the "Blue Willow" pattern. Marked "Buffalo Pottery" on base, 1906 and 1907 date marks. Buffalo, New York. 1906-1907. 5 1/2" to 7" H.
Excellent undamaged condition with some expected wear to gilding. Expected glaze crazing and some staining, one short manufacturing hairline on underside of one handle near juncture.

Catalogue Note: The "Blue Willow" pattern is said to be based on the Chinese story of a young girl who runs away with a young man, only for both of them to be killed by the man who the young girl was betrothed to through an arranged marriage. The doves represent the souls of the two young lovers. The "Blue Willow" pattern has been popular since the 18th century.
