AMERICAN LATE CLASSICAL CARVED MAHOGANY PIANO STOOL, upholstered circular seat supported by simple columnar standard raised on four downswept legs ending in stylized paw feet, likely original iron straps attached to underside of base. Early surface with rich color. Circa 1840. 18 1/2" H, 13 1/2" D (seat).
Three feet with losses to toes. Scattered minor wear throughout. Wear and losses to upholstery.
Provenance: Property deaccessioned from a Virginia institution to benefit the collections and conservation funds.
