AN ENGLISH COLLARD & COLLARD PARCEL GILT BURLED WALNUT GRAND PIANO, EARLY/MID 19TH CENTURY, FROM THE ESTATE OF THE LATE PERCY FOREMAN, in the rococo taste, the lid with a petal carved gilt edge, a book matched veneer, and two scrolled gilt brass lid locks, above a pierced scrolling foliate sheet music stand, to an incised foliate carved key cover, opening to a convex brass mounted cartouche inscribed "Patent Repeater, Collard & Collard, London" over natural keys and ebony accidental keys, with a total of 85 keys, the case with masterful wandering carved wood scrolling foliate details throughout, over a gilt carved acanthus leaf mahogany lyre form foot double pedal on three gilt cabriole legs with prince of wales feathers carved at the knee on scrolled feet over sea shell form pads, marked number 3944 and 445 below. Height: 38 1/4" Width: 54 1/2" Depth: 96"

The lid has a few mild cracks but nothing out of the ordinary, the curved edge has an approximately 6 inch crack to the carved petals with a few small losses to the gilt and gesso, one key front with a loss to the mahogany, the wooden scrollwork has some wear to the gilt, some mild cracks and with a few areas with apparent repairs, the legs with mild separation from the case at the knees and two pad feet appear to have been replaced with some evidence of cracking at the jointed area. One relief scroll now unattached. Requires tuning. Overall in very good condition. Simpson Galleries strongly encourages in-person inspection of items by the bidder.
