The covers (app. 5.125" x 7.625") have leather spines with five raised bands, extensive gilt decoration, and gilt lettering in applied brown leather author and title squares, one of which is missing and two of which are chipped to their edges (see photo). The spines are straight and securely attached. The leather outside corners are also securely attached, but with shallow wear to their edges. The marbled boards are in good condition, with minor scuffs and occasional shallow edge wear, but no notable tears or stains, and no visible fade to the marbling. The insides are in good condition, with some flaws. The marbled inside cover spreads are clean and unfaded. There are no stamps or other attachments. A few front end pages are partly loose. None are detached, as of now, but they will become loose with repeated handling. The binding throughout the book bodies is secure, with no loose or missing text pages. The gilt top edges are slightly faded, but clean and fairly bright. There is light foxing to some outside page edges, and a few spot stains to the page faces, but no significant stains, and no stains of any kind to most page faces. All the text is clean and unfaded. I've found no page tears or creases.
