First printing with advertisement on verso of ownership page listing 11 titles through The Tin Woodman of Oz. In the first state dust jacket with a blank rear flap. This is the first Oz book issued under the imprint of "Reilly & Lee" and the first posthumously published title, Baum having passed one month before its publication. Bienvenue & Schmidt, p. 79.
Condition
Wear and soiling to jacket with chips and small closed tears to edges, dampstain to right edge of front panel and front flap, some loss of color to rear panel, some cellotape repairs to reverse, light wear to cloth with rubbing to cover panel and extremities; front hinge starting, early gift inscription on ownership page, light toning to interior with vibrant plates; very good volume in good jacket.
