Date Published: [ca 1880]
Description:
Illustrated stiffly backed circular color plate with movable panels, depicting two scenes. (8vo) 24x22 cm (9½x8½"), boarded with silk ribbon with bows at corners.
Nice example of an illustrated Victorian "rollabout" panel, in which a tab along the circumference of the circle moves the panels to revel two different images. The first image is of three girls playing a game with a blindfolded collie, the other features a dog with a toothache seated on a velvet chair, with a smiling cat in the background. A caption at the bottom reads: "Toby‘s got the toothache, but as you can see, Carlo‘s playing Blindman‘s bluff, as happy as can be." Possibly from a book, the ribbon border may be a latter addition. Rear of panel covered in brown paper with ring attached for hanging. In working order.
