A VERY RARE ORMOLU MYSTERY CLOCK CIRCA 1840, BY JEAN EUGENE ROBERT HOUDIN OF PARISD: Transparent glass dial with Roman numerals & inner chapter ring, single gilt "arrow" hand. M: French key wind twin barrel 8 day striking movement with chaff cutter escapement, signed Vincenti & Comp on the back plate, numbered. C: Gilt ormolu chased & decorative wasted case with opposing griffins guarding the column which supports the dial surround, signed Houdin, height measures approx. 35cm, dial surround diameter approx. 12.7cm.
