Description
A GOOD GROUP OF CONTINENTAL ENAMELED WARES, 19TH CENTURY. Comprising a very fine enameled box, the sides and base enameled with flowers and insects and the hinged lid enameled with a Venetian scene; together with an enameled dish with scalloped rim, the cavetto decorated with an amorous scene and the interior and exterior side panels with flowers and musical instruments; an blue enameled match safe; and a very fine silver gilt enameled and chased box, the squashed circular form chased on the sides with rosettes and scrolling foliage, the hinged circular lid finely painted with an enamel medallion of a maiden feeding a caged bird, the interior brightly gilded and with indistinguishable maker's mark, diameter 2.75 inches (7 cm). Together with a Limoges enamel cartouche-form box, the hinged lid with bust portrait of a soldier and with embellished with enameled jewels. The greatest size 5 inches (12.5 cm).
