Description
John Rogers (American, 1829-1904). "The Favored Scholar", painted plaster, signed to top front of plinth "John Rogers / New York". A charming figural sculpture depicting a male teacher seated at a lectern with a young boy and girl perched before it taking lessons, the whole covered in light tan paint and inscribed to front of plinth base "THE FAVORED SCHOLAR". Approximate height 21", width 15.25", depth 10.5".
