Description
This lot consists of the antique Dutch almanac, "Almanach d'Erven Stichters Comptoir op't Jaar onses heeren Jesu Christi 1791" by Meyndert Van Dam (Amsterdam: by De Erfgen, van de Wed. C. Stichter, [1790]).
This antique almanac contains information on horse, beef, and leather markets; lunar calendars and tides; and trekschuit, the horse-drawn boats specific to the Netherlands, which were used to transport passengers between cities in trekvaarten, or tow-canals. At the rear of the volume are records of clock settings in Haarlem and a list of bonds. This vellum-bound almanac was once tied with green ribbons. Three of the ribbons are now gone, with one remaining intact on the rear cover. The entire volume, including the title page, is printed in both red and black. A woodcut vignette appears on the title page, as well as additional vignettes, one for each month of the year. The woodcuts appear to depict typical scenes from each month, especially those concerning farming, harvest, and markets.

Condition
The vellum of this volume is soiled and mildly rubbed, and a chip is present to the head of the spine (.5" loss). The text block displays strain after the last page of text. A stamp is visible to the front paste-down, as well as on the page of text for "Januarius." Mild rippling and offsetting occur on the pages, which are otherwise clean and bright. Very occasionally, a spot of soiling can be seen to one of the pages.
