Description
From a prominent collection, a very nice fixed globe lantern made for the Norwich & Worcester Railroad. This frame has a tin top and pinch pot. It also has 6 vertical wires that have wire-wrap joints. The top vent holes are an unusual double row of stars that is not common. The cutting is a standard type seen on N&W globes. It is block lettering. The pinch pot fits well and it has a glass fount and double brass whale oil pick wick burner.
The Norwich and Worcester Railroad ran through Connecticut and Massachusetts between its name cities. It was bought out by the New York & New England around 1872. This is a very old lantern.
