Description
Historically significant and a stunning example of Paul Laszlo's innate design genius early in his career, with original Maria Kipp fabric. This pair of settees are a striking and timeless statement in any setting. Paul Laszlo (1900 – 1993), born in Debrecen, Hungary, immigrated to California to escape anti-Jewish sentiment and opened an architecture and design studio on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills in 1936. His earliest designs reflected the traditional style of that era, with a focus on affordable materials. As his career progressed, his home, interior, furniture, fabric, rug and lamp designs became more lavish in style, in service to his Beverly Hills society clientele. Laszlo designed furniture for the Herman Miller Company, department stores Saks, Hudson’s Bay and Robinson’s, hotel casinos in Las Vegas and many other companies, individuals and settings.30 in.Hx48 in.Wx31 in.D
