The partially-printed invitation features a picture of the spectacular bridge, and reads; ''The trustees of the New York and Brooklyn Bridge request the honor of the presence of [with a space for writing the recipient's name] at the opening ceremonies to take place on Thursday May twenty fourth at two o'clock P.M.'' The focal point of the card is an etching of the suspension bridge stretching across the East River to connect Manhattan and Brooklyn. This invitation was produced by Tiffany & Co., who revised the Great Seal of the United States two years later.
