2 CHINESE DEHUA BLANC DE CHINE CERAMIC GUANYIN: 20th c., China. Both sculpted in white ceramic with glazed patina representing Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy.

1.) Shown standing on stylized water with a lotus flower while holding a basket containing a fish. She wears a long flowing robe with necklace and bracelets. Her serene facial expression framed by a chignon with knotted tendrils down her shoulders. Two impressed marks on her back, a square character artist’s mark, and gourd-shaped, Dehua mark, 15.5”h.

2.) Shown seated on a rocky precipice while holding a ruyi scepter and with a vase and rolled scroll at her side. She wears flowing robes with tasseled ties and beaded jewelry at her neck and wrists, at her feet stands a child with hands clasped in prayer and looking up with reverence. Two impressed marks on her back, a square character artist’s mark, and gourd-shaped, Dehua mark, 14.5”h.
