Pair of Chinese Porcelain Famille Baluster Vases, 19th c., with everted rims, over applied Foo dog handles, the shoulders with applied salamanders, the sides with figural and landscape decoration, H.- 10 1/4 in., Dia.- 4 1/2 in. Provenance: The Estate of Sidney J. Mazarat III, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Condition
Condition consistent with age and use. Heavy wear to gilt on rims. An approximate 1 cm firing flaw crack on the side of one Foo dog. Two flea-size cracks across dog tails. Intermittent light wear throughout the figures, including three pea-size losses to the clothing on one example. Scattered minute black firing flaws through the white ground. A fascinating pair.
