An attractive Chinese 'dragon' silk satin panel, early 18th century, woven with a gold five-clawed imperial dragon writhing amid clouds, water motifs and pinnacles of rock and chasing a flaming pearl amidst fire and cloud scrolls, with multi-coloured silk floss and gold thread on a dark midnight blue ground, probably made as a cover for a pillar in a Tibetan monastery, approximately 82cm high x 45cm wide, framed These silks were sent to Tibet, as a tribute from Chinese families to a monastery and to aid the after life 'to be paved with silken treasures.'
