Rare Original Symphonion "Gambrinus" Terracotta Figure, c. 1897
Depicting the legendary "King of Beer", a flagon in one hand, a tankard in the other, height of figure from toe to crown 25 ½ in. (65 cm), sympathetically restored and repainted. Provenance: This Symphonion "Gambrinus" hung for three generations on the façade of "Restauration Gambrinus" near Heilbronn, a three-storey building purchased by the consigner's maternal grandparents and converted into a restaurant and guest house in 1897. A family photograph from around 1900 (not included in the lot) shows Gambrinus above the central window of the second floor. The guest house was lived in and run by the owners and their thirteen children and then taken over by one of the daughters (the consignor's mother) after the first world war. From the 1930s to the 1950s the business was known as the "Drei-Mädel-Haus". A second Gambrinus figure on a musical box (which originally hung in the restaurant's salon) was sold by Auction Team Breker on 5. November 2016, Lot 438. A signed letter of provenance from the consignor accompanies the figure. – A rare and historic figure suitable for completing a Symphonion Model 25G musical box or for display in its own right.

Seltene Original-Symphonion Gambrinus Terrakotta-Figur, um 1897
Mit Darstellung des berühmten Bierkönigs, einen Krug in der einen Hand, einen Becher in der anderen, Höhe 65 cm, ansprechend restauriert und neu bemalt. Herkunft: Diese Figur hing für 3 Generationen an der Fassade der "Restauration Gambrinus" in der Nähe von Heilbronn. Eine Familienphotographie (nicht inklusive) zeigt den Gambrinus oberhalb eines Fensters in der ersten Etage. Das Gasthaus wurde von der Familie des Einlieferers bis in die 50er Jahre, zuletzt bekannt als das "Drei-Mädel-Haus", betrieben. Eine weitere Gambrinus-Figur auf einem Symphonion-Automaten (Original in diesem Gasthaus) wurde bei Auction Team Breker am 5. November 2016 verkauft, Lot 438. Ein signierter Brief des Einlieferers mit der Bestätigung der Herkunft dieser Figur liegt dem Lot bei. – Eine seltene historische Figur, für die Vervollständigung eines Symphonion-Musikautomaten Model 25G sehr wertvoll.
