Description
A lovely Greek terracotta figurine of a robed woman, c. 3rd - 2nd Century BC, wearing a long chiton and supporting an ewer on her head. Her features are nicely modeled, her hair in waves with long tresses descending down over her shoulder. A pleasing example with remnants of red pigment on gown and moderate surface deposits. H: 9 in (22.9cm). Large vent hole cut in back during manufacture to help avoid damage during the firing process. Ex Northern California private collection.
