Description
A pair of large Maya avian fragments from Roatan, Honduras, ca. 400 - 700 AD. The first is a 3-1/2 in high eagle and the second is a 3-1/2 in high owl, which retains much of its original white pigment. Both were most likely the terminal ends of hand-held incensarios that were destroyed after ceremonial usage. Nice set, mounted on stone bases. Ex Medlin estate.
