Description
Loetz attributed Jugendstil vase caressed within an Orion pewter mount by designer Friedrich Adler around 1903 for Kunstgewerbliche Metallwarenfabrik, Georg Friedrich Schmitt, founder. The honey amber glass has dismembered burgundy streaks mingling with opal net-like patterns. The metal impressed ORION 315 has cherries and floral molding and traces of gold in the recesses. Height 6 1/4 inches. Handsome seldom seen vase in excellent original condition. Schmitt encased Austrian glass and pottery vases with his company’s decorative pewter mounts, known examples are Kralik and Zsolnay.
