Roy Acuff Personally Owned Off White Dress Shirt Made by Retford-Kenneth Gordon Acquired From the Acuff Estate Sale W/COA - This piece is an off white, long sleeved dress shirt that was personally owned by Roy Acuff. The shirt was made by Retford-Kenneth Gordon, and has a pleated detail in the front. The shirt is in good condition, and will come with a certificate of authenticity. Roy Acuff (1903-1992) was an American country music singer, fiddler, and promoter, known as the "King of Country Music." Acuff began his music career in 1930's as the singer and fiddler for his group, the Smoky Mountain Boys. He joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1938, and remained one of it's key figures and promoters for nearly four decades. Acuff co-founded Acuff-Rose Music, the first major Nashville-based country music publishing company, which signed acts such as Hank Williams and Roy Orbison. Acuff was the first living inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1962.
