Description
An incredible Egyptian bronze figure of Harpokrates, Late Period, 26th Dynasty, c. 664 – 525 BC, the child Horus is depicted seated nude, feet on integral base, wearing Hem-Hem crown, Nemes head cloth with side-lock of youth and uraeus, his right hand held to his lips. H: 5 ¼ in (13.3 cm). The figure is beautifully modeled with fantastically detailed features and nice glossy brown patination. This is certainly one of the finest Egyptian sculptures of Harpokrates that we have had the pleasure to offer. With custom wood throne. Ex New York City private estate; acquired from Parke-Bernet Galleries, 1960's, thence by descent.
