Description

Soap Hollow Tradition, Indiana Softwood Stencil Decorated Blanket Chest Attributed to C.M. Hochstetler. Red ground with original stenciling marked "P. Y. 1866" above a basket of fruit and flanked by potted flowers, stars, pinwheels and tassel designs. Molded lid, interior open till, dovetailed case, two split dovetailed drawers, molded base with bracket feet. Note: Pook & Pook sold a signed Hochstetler blanket chest with comparable stenciling April 24, 2010 from a private WI collection. 24-1/2"h. x 44-1/2"w. x 21-1/2"d. Condition: Good with wear, stains on lid and restoration to feet.
