GEORGIAN STERLING SERVING PIECES, LONDON 1824-1825, FIVE, L 7 1/4"-8 1/2":The sterling silver set with a scale pattern and shell tip includes: 1 sauce ladle, L.7 1/4", 2 serving forks and 2 serving spoons, L.8 1/2". Each is marked with lion passant, leopard head, and date letters indicating 1824-1825. The serving spoons and sauce ladle with maker's mark for William Chawner II of London; the forks with maker's mark for William Eley and William Fearn of London (see additional photo). Weighs 16.71 troy ounces total. From the collection of Mrs. G. G. Scranton, international traveler from the late 1900's to the mid twentieth century. Friend and patron of Mrs. Dagny Carter, a notable scholar, influenced this collection.
Condition
The tines of each fork show slight wear.
