Description
Constructed of Cedar wood, likely from ancient Lebanon.Provenance: Ex Bonham's London. Ex personal collection of Reginald Berti Haselden (1881-1952), acquired in the first half of the 20th century. Captain Haselden was curator of manuscripts at the Huntington library in San Marino, California, circa 1928-1938 and 'pioneered the application of modern technology to the study of manuscripts': r.l. easton jr and w. noel, 'infinite possibilities: ten years of study of the archimedes palimpsest', proceeding of the american philosophical society, vol. 154, no. 1, march 2010, p. 53.This is a large mummy mask radiocarbon dated to 2455 bp +- 35 years. ex Bonham's of London. Dates from the time of Persian occupation of Egypt. Mask comes with an extensive, third party, 18 page artifact analytical report (AAR) as well as third party radiocarbon findings. Item was examed in both regards by respected Jackson Galleries. Mask itself is 12" in length and much larger than that on its included custom made stand.
