Description
Petrus Regout Maestricht (Danish, 1836-1969), late 19th century. A ceramic console bowl, enameled overall in a Japonesque motif, having a cobalt blue ground, decorated with black flowering branches with gilt detailing, with a black roundel painted with a silver bird, with a courtly figure, mounted with a pierced gilt brass rim with cloud form handles and foliated base, on four scrolling dragon motif feet. Faience mark to underside, partially over painted in gilt with initials EH. Approximate height 8.75", diameter (including handles) 15.5". Provenance: From the Collection of Mr. Gerald Darby, Owner of Darby Mitchell Antiques of Atlanta, Georgia.
