Description
Continental, likely French, 18th century. A large wall hanging tapestry or bed runner in red velvet and gold silk, having a central panel hand embroidered with scrolling floral crewel work motifs, flanked by gold silk lace, suspended on a gold silk cord with gold fringe to the bottom. Apparently unmarked. Approximate length 140", width 25.25". Provenance: Property from Estate of Mr. William P. Hale (co-owner of antiques store, The Orient Express located in Buckhead with Mr. Charles L. Mann), Atlanta, Georgia.
