Description
A CHINESE EXPORT PARCEL GILT RED LACQUERED BRASS MOUNTED PINE JIAOYI "HUNT" CHAIR, LATE 19TH CENTURY, QING DYNASTY (1644-1912), the scrolling yoke form crest above a gilt trapezoidal splat enclosing two pierced ruyi panels with scrolling foliate detail centering a gilt trapezoidal relief yin and yang dragon encircling a pearl of wisdom panel, over a baize seat with a chrysanthemum engraved brass mounted front, within a collapsible "X" form frame with a raised panel footrest, mounted with floral engraved brass mounts throughout. Height: 39 1/2" Width: 31" Depth: 23"
Condition
There are various losses to the red lacquer throughout but mostly noted at the arm terminals and near the base. Some rubbing loss to the gilt decoration, as is some darkening and loosening of the brass mounts, otherwise in fair to good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
