AN AMERICAN COWBOY AND WESTERN THEME PAINTED DROP FRONT DESK, CIRCA 1920-1940, BY SKANDIA FURNITURE CO., ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS, the rectangular surmount with a fall front door, opening to an interior fitted for electricity, with an arrangement of two cupboards over two short drawers centering an arched cubby hole, within engaged column and arched details, over a writing surface, on splayed twist turned legs terminating in blocks on turned feet ending in French toes, joined by a shaped "H" form stretcher centering a leafy flourish, the whole with hand painted decoration including scrolling rope, three bucking broncos with cowboy riders, stars, and stitches. There are occassional areas with residue, paint spray, smudges, chips, and general wear and loss to the paint decoration throughout. There is an area of damage with some losses at the right lower side of the door, with some losses to the faux metal strap hinge, including loss to the gilt paint of the hinges, but otherwise in good to very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
