A CONTINENTAL POLISHED CAST BRASS FIRE HELMET FORM INKWELL ON ROUGE MARBLE BASE, EARLY 20TH CENTURY, the crested helmet with laurel and berry sprays, mounted on pillow form base with base metal hinged mount opening to glass ink reservoir stamped "NILMELIOR, J.F.A., PARIS, DEPOSE," the whole on rectangular rouge marble base with integral pen holder. Height: 4 1/2" Width: 7 5/8" Depth: 5 1/4"

Condition

Possibly assembled from various elements, the helmet top with one protruding screw to the bottom (and one missing) which serves as swivel point/anchor, heavy marking to top of pillow base under helmet suggesting reworking of the form, overall surface wear of rubbing to brass and marble.
